The Intrepid Tiger II (IT II) Family of Systems are communications EW payloads that provide airborne Electronic Attack (EA) and Electronic Warfare Support (ES) capability for Marine Aviation platforms. IT II currently deploys with AV-8B and UH-1Y Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) detachments.
IT II brings organic airborne communications EW capability to MEUs. Each AV-8B MEU detachments deploys with four IT II pods. IT II is being fielded on UH-1Y from FY16 FY22. To date, three UH-1Y MEU detachments have deployed with IT II. Since 2012 IT II has completed over 25 deployments.
The IT II program began as an Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) for Research, Development, and Acquisition (RDA) designated multi-phased Rapid Deployment Capability (RDC) and completed transition to an Acquisition Category (ACAT)- IV(T) Program of Record in 2017.
Current IT II initiatives:
FY18-19, IT II integration on USMC KC-130J.
IT II is currently funded through the Future Years Defense Program for Block X integration on MV- 22B. Block X is planned to add a counter-radar capability to the current IT II communications EW capability.
