In order to improve pre-deployment home station training, TECOM established TSCs at six of the service’s major bases: Camp Pendleton, Camp Lejeune, Hawaii, Quantico, Twentynine Palms and Marine Corps Bases Japan.
The TSCs provide support to unit commanders in the operating forces in the design of home station training; assistance with the integration of TECOM enablers into unit training; and assistance with executing standards-based training in meeting training readiness requirements. In direct support of unit training, the TSCs deliver information briefings; provide scenario/ product support; and assist with aligning training events to unit mission essential task lists and training objectives. TSCs also support TECOM headquarters in identifying trend deficiencies and implementing courses of action to resolve them.
Due to the success of this initiative, the effort has been formalized and expanded. In May 2017, the Training Support Center Branch (TSCB) was formally established in TECOM headquarters. The TSCB serves as TECOM’s principal liaison to the MEFs. In this role, the TSCB provides the Commanding General, Training and Education Command (CG TECOM) with regular feedback on the efficacy of TECOM programs based on firsthand experience and close interaction with the operating forces.
